Anna's morning vocabulary

One of the neat things about Anna is that every morning she seems to have acquired or perfected new words during the night. This morning when I got her up she pointed to the ceiling and said "Fan". She's been toying with the word for awhile, but it usually came out "shan", "san", or "fa". This morning it was crystal clear. Course immediately after that she said "pockie" (I figured it out, she wanted to play piggies -this little piggie went to market, ...).

Ouch - Karate update

I just got my third degree black belt a few weeks ago. I don't know that my skill level is any better than it was with the prior belt, but it seems to give the students permission to try and kill me.

I sparred this morning before work and managed to bruise the sides of my feet while throwing kicks. Can't wait to get home and get my shoes off. Here's hoping the kids don't try stomping on my toes...

Anna - a battle of wills

Lately Anna, our sound sleeper, has awakened several times in the middle of the night crying. I was so convinced there was something wrong I took her to the doctors thinking she had an ear infection. Nothing.

It would appear our darling daughter thinks she likes it more when we come in to give her a drink of water and a hug in the middle of the night rather than just going back to sleep. I don't really have the patience for this over the long term, so last night became the battle of wills.

Anna started wimpering at about 1:30 am. By 1:40 am she was into a seriously good cry, and by 2:00 am her screaming was loud enough to get through 2 sets of bedroom doors and both the pillows I had stuffed over my head.

Turns out our determined little princess kept up at that volume until almost 2:30 am. I had to leave early this morning, so I didn't see her before I left. In my head I know she's fine, but deep down in my heart I'm sure that 1) a terrible trajedy befell her last night and we ignored it, and 2) she'll hate me forever.

Interestingly, Pierce didn't wake up at all during the entire scream fest. I think I'll have to rewrite my will to give him a bigger share...

Swim Lessons

Pierce finished his second set of swim lessons last week. He's not yet a fish, but he's pretty fearless. He's ready and willing to put his face fully in the water, jump in the pool, float (with assistance) and play with every pool toy within arm's reach -regardless of who it belongs to.

Anna is already mimicking her brother.  She blows bubbles, dips her face in the water, and gets annoyed when we won't let her swim off by herself. Our neighborhood pool is heated, so we're finding lots of excuses to use it this summer, regardless of the weather.

Potty training for dollars

We're still fighting the good fight in terms of getting Pierce potty trained. He's pretty well mastered urination as long as he's on a schedule. But the kid refuses to let us know when he needs to go.

Pooping, well now that's another story. He's had a couple of successes over the last month or so, but mostly he tells us he needs to "go potty" after he's already done it. So, we're down to bribery.

Pierce is completely enamored of remote controlled cars. So, the verbal contract we've made is that if he poops in the toilet three times he will get his very own remote control car (I'll even let him pick it out himself).

Since making the deal Pierce has not pooped at all (two days ago). I'm hoping the kid doesn't blow up....

Welcome to the Lindenbergs Blog

Hey everyone-

Well the Lindenbergs site has lain dormant for awhile, mostly because there just hasn't been enough time to maintain a formal website. So, we thought we'd try a blog instead. Visit often for the latest news and pictures of what's new with the whole family.
